Lounge Lizard's brandtenders are creative, tech-savvy, and passionate in developing innovative strategies that drive conversion for both startup and established clients of all industries, making them the "best of breed since 1998."

Contrary to proclamations that "infographics are dead" they are in fact alive and doing well especially when it comes to link building. While they are not at the 2014-2015 level of strength, infographics are currently more popular than they were in 2013. Additionally, they are just behind surveys and ahead of photos or images when it comes to the average linking root domains which shows how strong they are when it comes to building the most links. Today NY based web design company, Lounge Lizard, shares Top Tips for using Infographics to Build Links.

1.    Relevant. First and foremost, your infographic needs to be relevant to the needs of the users as in providing some sort of value. If you aren't creating content that informs or solves a problem, then it won't be useful enough to build links. Along with the content and purpose, the design itself needs to match those ideas in a way that allows people to relate to it quickly and easily.

2.    Effective. Rather than design what you would want to see, put yourself in the users' shoes and design for what they want to see or will resonate with them. For example, you might think an area chart looks the best, but your users might have an easier time understanding a pie chart. Your design needs to be effective to convey information to the users.

3.    Follow SEO rules. Your content should be following the standard SEO rules when it comes for crafting content around high volume topics and terms. Make sure you research carefully and then include keywords properly within the infographic.

4.    Try the skyscraper technique. This technique is where you find pieces of content that your competitors have used which performed well and then creating an even better version of that content as an infographic. By creating a taller building your will tower over them by offering a superior content piece in a popular subject.

5.    Link elements. Within the infographic you often use multiple graphical elements with important information. Whenever possible link those graphics to other pages within the site or content pages that are relevant and provide additional information the user might be interest in.

6.    Eye test. Every infographic should be eye-catching and interesting enough to draw viewers eyes no matter where it is on the page. That doesn't mean you should go overboard and create an eyesore. The graphic still needs to confirm to your brand and website style; however, you want that first impression to be, "That looks interesting and I should check it out right now," rather than, "Hrm, I'll get to that in a minute."

7.    Promote on social media. Get that infographic on the web in as many places as you can! Social media is a fantastic promotion tool so use it to share that snazzy piece of content on Twitter, Facebook, and your regular platforms.

8.    Include an embedded code. When sharing your infographic, include an embedded code so sites have the option of using that code to share your content. This can increase traffic and help with cross-linking.
