Why Brazilian Developers are Super Heroes.

Why Brazilian Developers are Super Heroes.

Brazil.

Land of Samba, Carnaval, Soccer and this years Summer Olympics.

And now it seems, of Super Hero Developers, Designer and Digital Marketers.

The country has a pool of tens of thousands of amazing tech workers ranging from amazing UX Designers in the gaming and movie industry, to Back End Developers with 10+ years of corporate banking experience and finally social media specialist who grew up in the most social country on the planet.

The good news is, they all want to move to Canada.

And we at VanHack have been working with these "Super Hero" Developers for the past year, helping them improve their interview skills, LinkedIn profiles and resumes. Now it's time to share them with you, Canada.

Why Super Hero Developers or Designers, Marketers?

Simply because the gap between education for skilled workers in Brazil today creates a situation where few people have the tech skills needed and most developers have to be a "Jack-of-all traits" generalist developer learning new programming languages every few years and constantly picking up new skills to serve a wide variety of clients.

There's such a wide range of skills and people.

From the 18 year old Front End developer who has been coding since he was 15 and is now teaching his friends how to code, to the 30+ year experience executive who has grown multiple companies.

And the skills set is super diverse: Photoshop, UX Design, .NET, PHP, Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, NodeJS, AngularJS - you name it!

Over the next few weeks we'll be share some stories of these super Hero Developers / Designers and Social media experts leading up to The VanHackathon, a virtual hackathon form May 20 - 22 where you'll be able to see the skills of our amazing VanHackers.

And of course, please let me know if you're interested in hiring any of them, we're in private beta of our recruiting platform. Email ilya@vanhack.com  (see: your call to action)

And without further ado, here is our first Super Hero Story.

VanHacker 1 arrived in Vancouver for a 3 month stint at HIVE coworking while his wife learns English and they try out the city.

He's been working remotely for TopTal as a Senior Back End Developer for the last 3 years, so he can work from anywhere in the world.

Mostly, he is focused on Ruby, Ruby on Rails and Angular JS.

He's also got experience with Java (JEE, JSE, including many frameworks), NodeJS, , PHP, .NET (C#), and his Database experience is with SQL, Mysql, Oracle, and MongoDB.

His English is intermediate to advanced and he has been working in an English language environment for the past few years with American projects through TopTal.

Right now, he's looking for a reason to stay in Vancouver.

Is your company the right spot for him?

Hi Ilya Brotzky, thanks for the article and I'd say no only developer but all the ICT professionals are as they say "Jack-of-all-traits", and the reason is not only because of the deficit of skilled professionals but also because companies want to make "more with less people" and as a good professional we have a say there which is "a mission given is a mission accomplished" (Elite Squad - Brazilian movie). I wish they could also see that in here in Ireland, but it takes sometime to the companies around the world realise that we are not the land of samba, carnival and soccer. We are great in technology, medicine, soya etc...well there are still some people who starts a conversation in Spanish instead of Portuguese ;) Good job and good luck for you and your candidates

Great article my friend. I'm thinking to change my LinkedIn title to "Jack-of-all developer" =)
